What is a prairie fen?
Prairie fen is a globally rare wetland type that is still relatively common in the Midwestern and Northeastern United States. However, fens and the rare species they support won’t persist without a concerted effort to identify, protect and restore them. This website contains information on how to identify, evaluate and restore fen habitats and represents collaboration between Michigan State University, The Nature Conservancy, Michigan Natural Features Inventory, the Michigan DNR Landowner Incentive Program, and The Stewardship Network.
